for studing and researching to more then 30 000 volumes (books
and serial publications) - not lending home
keeps
important bibliophilic values amongst which: 240 Romanian old
books (1643-1830), 51 foreign old books (1630-1800) and many
volumes with increased value due to autographs and handwritten
notes
among
the bibliophilic rarities there are 5 books with autographs
which belonged to Ion Creangă and 5 volumes from the precious
collection of "The Time" (1877, 1878, 1881-1883),
where the Romanian great writers Eminescu, Slavici and Caragiale
were editors. Today, "The Time" collections are only
in the custody of the Academy's Library

copying (only parts) services from the books existing in the
department
organises
exhibitions, coloquies and other specific activities in order
to promot the Library's collections
The
main part of this documentary collection consists of the donation
made by the illustrious bookish man and editor Gh. Teodorescu-Kirileanu
(1872 - 1960), donation from 24th of February 1956. In time,
to this inestimable bibliophile treasure were added, publications
from the ex-library of the local professor and archivist Constantin
Turcu and other precious volumes, donated by book-passionates
or bought from libraries or second-hand bookshops.
